F is for…….

family.  I have probaly not done a blog post in a while BECAUSE of my family.  Don’t get me wrong, I do love them, but they do take up a lot of time sometimes.

My family situation has changed so much over the last couple of years, and keeps changing.  My parents are now in their 80’s, they are still married but no longer share the same address.  Dad’s health is going down hill slowly and his sharp mind is now looking very dull.  It is such a shame.

I suppose that is life…

Humour.

My BOY was not home from his supermarket job at the usual time last night.  I was concerned, so I rang him.  Being the good boy he is, the deli was short-staffed so he filled in to serve customers.

This got me laughing so much.  My son knows nothing about cold meats, he has eaten devon all his life but he wouldn’t try any other meat.  So I had a picture of him in my mind, scratching his head and guessing how many slices was in 200g of meats and cheeses he had never heard of.

ironing.  My husband has been asking me for a couple of days to do some….

Ironing is truly a chore.  The same clothes every week, dirtied, washed, hung out to dry and then ironed.  BORING!

Jack-in the-box.

I love these toys, but I never had one as a child.  I didn’t even buy one for my children which now I wonder why I didn’t.  I love the surprise element and the suspense.

It was similar to the moment when when I checked my blog stats this morning.  I got 80 hits one day, OMG!  I don’t know why or how they looked at my blog, but it inspired me to continue.  I know some people probaly think what I write is a bit of rubbish, but I thank them for not telling me!!!!

K is for kookaburra.

I love the sound of kookaburras ‘laughing’ in the trees first thing in the morning. I am fortunate to live in ‘The Hills District’ in Sydney and often hear these beautiful birds.

The Kookaburra’s rolling, laughing call is one of the best-known sounds in the animal world. The birds raise a wild chorus of crazy laughter as they go to roost in the treetops at dusk, and again wake everyone within hearing just as dawn breaks, so regularly that in the hinterlands of Australia they are know as the “bushman’s clock.”

L is for Lhasa.

We are touring China and Tibet next month and will be in Lhasa on the 25th May.

The Tibet region has a huge history that has always fascinated me.  I have read a lot of books and seen a lot of documentaries on the subject and I am very excited to be able to see it for real.

I do not want to get into the politics of the area BUT I think I need to see it before it becomes MORE chinese!

M is for Mamma Mia.  Yes,  an ABBA song, I hate this!

Years ago, as a teenager, I was traumatised when I was by forced by my mother to have ballroom dancing lessons. Boys with 2 left feet would step on my toes and all the dances were to ABBA songs.
If I am in a shop and hear this music, it takes all my effort not to walk out. Funny how an experience can turn you off particular music.
